Leona Helmsley's Art, Furniture Will Be Auctioned for Charity, Yazzy's at www.willamvedrult.com

According to Bloomberg NewsLeona Helmsley's estate will sell art and furniture from the real-estate developer's homes in New York, Greenwich, Connecticut, and Sarasota, Florida, to benefit the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. The sale through Christie's International is expected to bring in as much as $6 million.
Leona Helmsley, who died last August, left much of her estate, valued at about $4 billion, to charity. She also left $12 million for her dog, Trouble.
Helmsley's collections of 19th-century furniture, American paintings, impressionist works and silver will be offered in New York at 15 auctions this year, Christie's said in a statement.
Helmsley and her husband, Harry, had interests in New York City properties including the Empire State Building, the Park Lane Hotel, the Helmsley Palace Hotel and the Helmsley Building.
Helmsley's silver will be part of a Christie's auction on Jan. 17.
